Academy alumna inspires students

Albany Academy for Girls sixth grade student Sixth Grade students Angelia Scallero (left) of Ballston Spa and Emily Ashton of Albany folding scarves from the ZAAHNA program. 1969 graduate of the Albany Academy for Girl, Summer inspired students there in October when she spoke about ZAAHNA, which employs and teaches Afghan women to create high quality embroidered pillows and hand woven shawls. Proceeds from the sale of the items go towards schooling Afghan children. Summer returned to the Academy on Thursday, Dec. 16, for the annual Wassail celebration and to offer scarves for sale to parents and faculty.
