Thacher park closing not set in stone

A spokesperson for the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historical Preservation said that rumors of Thacher Park being slated to close are false.

Dan Keefe, Deputy Public Information Officer for the office, said There is no decision made on which parks will be closed.

He said the office is currently looking at all 178 parks and 38 historical sites under the management of the office to determine which ones will be closed, however, at this time there is no determination on which parks will be closed, or how many will have to be closed.

"Reports of specific park closings are inaccurate, and misleading to the public," said Keefe.
