PERC was also detected in indoor air, though at levels well below the Department of Health's safety guidelines. The DEC said a sub-slab depressurization system could be installed, which would prevent vapor intrusion from the soil to indoors.
The DEC said the information used in making the determination had been gathered by the site owner between 2007 and 2009. Wren emphasized the extent of the contamination, and what steps must be taken going forward, is not yet fully known.
"There's additional investigation that needs to be conducted," she said.
The property owner could not immediately be reached.
