Colonie's Kyle Plante was a double winner at Sectionals. Plante cruised to the 55-meter hurdles title with a time of 8 seconds, and she had a 2.2-second cushion over her nearest competition on her way to winning the 300 dash with a time of 40.2 seconds.
In Division II, Ballston Spa won the boys team title with 122 points, nine points ahead of runner-up Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, while Holy Names won the girls team title with 118 points. Niskayuna was second with 84 points.
Mike Villano led Ballston Spa with victories in the 55- and 300-meter dashes. Max Groves added a win the 3,200 for the Scotties, who also finished first in the 1,600 and 3,200 relays.
Otis Ubriaco won the 1,000- and 1,600-meter races for BH-BL. Chris Fernandez took first place in the 600, and the Spartans' 800 relay team claimed the Division II title.
Mohonasen's Mi'chael White was a double winner in field events. The junior finished first in the high jump and the long jump.
Niskayuna's Sonya Pevzner (55-meter hurdles), Ballston Spa's Bailey Kowalczyk (1,000) and BH-BL's Kiersten Anderson (3,000) won individual Sectional titles on the girls' side. Niskayuna's 3,200-meter relay team also finished first.
The Lansingburgh boys and Scotia-Glenville girls were the Division III team champions. Lansingburgh edged Ichabod Crane by five points to claim the boys team title, while Scotia-Glenville cruised to a 51-point victory over the Riders to win the girls team title.
Becky Celorio led Scotia-Glenville with wins in the girls 1,500- and 3,000-meter races. Makala Gatta added victories in the 55-meter dash and the long jump.
The Lady Tartans also won the 3,200-meter relay with a time of 10:43.9.
Dylan Elliot (long jump) and Kevin Murdock (shot put) won Sectional titles for the Scotia-Glenville boys team."
