Police: Man hospitalized after being struck by driver

Colonie Police are investigating that occurred near Colonie Center and Northway Mall on Route 5, according to police.

Frances Brown, 70 of Scotia was traveling west in a 1997 Pontiac at close to 12:40 a.m. on Sunday, March 14, when she allegedly struck Harold Lewis, 59, of Watervliet when he "walked out in front of her."

"Lewis was going from the north to the south side of SR 5 after apparently exiting a CDTA bus. The Pontiac struck the pedestrian causing him to be thrown into the windshield and then to the ground, according to the report.

Lewis was brought to Albany Medical Center by the Colonie EMS with "multiple fractures to his extremities and a head injury," the report states.

As of Monday, March 15 there are not charges, but the investigation is pending.

The report states that Lewis was in dark clothes, not using the pedestrian crosswalk and Brown was not under the influence of alcohol or speeding.

Witnesses are asked to contact police at 783-2744.
