Man arrested in flower bomb hoax

Colonie police arrested Sean Michael McMahon, 25, of Albany, on a felony charge of placing a false bomb on Monday, May 3, according to police reports.

McMahon was arrested for allegedly taping a flower thermo device under a table at 5 Avis Drive, Seagroatt Riccardi Ltd., a wholesale flower dealer. The device was beeping under the table in one of the common break rooms, causing workers at the location to become alarmed, the report states. Police said McMahon said the incident was a joke meant to "loosen the stress of the Mother's Day rush."

He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, May 5.
