The Niskayuna Police Department is investigating a reported rape, which occurred on Saturday, Oct. 16, at 2:30 a.m.
After police were notified, they responded to the female victim's house for the reported incident. Police were then directed to an area near the intersection of Balltown Road and Nott Street East, which is where the rape was reported to have occurred.
The female victim said she was walking home from a location in Schenectady and was approached by an unknown male as she was walking on Van Antwerp Road near Union Street, according to police. The victim said the male suspect was riding a bicycle and engaged her in conversation as she walked.
The suspect eventually got off the bicycle and is alleged to have grabbed the victim, pushing her between two buildings where he sexually assaulted her, said police. The victim walked to her home and contacted police.
The victim described her attacker as a black male, thin build, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall with short curly hair.
Investigators are following up on leads and working with other agencies in an attempt to identify the suspect. Niskayuna police are asking anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the Detective Division at 374-3159."
