Sharkey said he expects similar efforts from his girls team as the season progresses.
"We're not going to have that first-place finisher, but we have several strong runners," said Sharkey.
In other cross country action last weekend, Schenectady Christian School finished sixth in the boys small school division standings at the Guilderland Invitational. The Falcons finished with 130 points, one point behind fifth-place Broadalbin-Perth. Thousand Islands from Ontario, Canada won the team title with 51 points.
Jacob Urys led Schenectady Christian with a 10th-place finish in a time of 15:13. Christopher Murphy was 15th with a time of 15:42, and Ryan Murphy placed 22nd with a time of 16:14.
Mohonasen finished eighth in the boys team standings with 208 points. Mike Badger was 24th with a time of 16:16 for the Mighty Warriors.
Mohonasen didn't have enough runners to qualify for the team standings in the girls small school division, but it did have a top-20 runner in Allison Thayer, who finished 18th with a time of 19:44.""
