Britt's late goal helps Shaker tie Ballston Spa

Austin Britt's second-half goal helped Shaker forge a 3-3 tie with Ballston Spa in Tuesday's Suburban Council North Division boys soccer game in Latham.

The first-place Scotties (5-0-3) took a 3-2 lead on Connor Preece's goal before Britt tallied to tie it. Both teams had several chances in overtime, but each goaltender -- Evan Mendez (Ballston Spa) and John Holland (Shaker) -- made the necessary saves to keep the score tied.

Ballston Spa built a 2-0 lead in the first half on goals by Sean Maruscsak and Kevin Marin before Shaker (4-3-1) tied it before halftime. Connor Brant had the first Blue Bison goal, and Nick Shamlian scored the second goal.

Mendez finished with 13 saves, while Holland stopped eight shots."
