The college is also renovating the Kindl Building at 201 State St. Work is continuing on renovations to the former Mill Lane building, which is now known as the Stockade View Apartments at 134-136 State St.
On March 22, college officials announced the campus would expand to the Center City Building located across from Proctors for the new certified nursing assistant program offered at the college after being awarded $11.2 million in a federal grant. The new classroom space is also planned to be used for courses in criminal justice, business and computing.
"SCCC needs to expand its classroom space as its student population grows along with its academic programs," said Denise Murphy McGraw, chair of SCCC's Board of Trustees, in an earlier statement. "SCCC is a vital resource for workforce training in our region and this expansion will allow more people access to an education that will help them become very marketable to employers."
