The Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central School District has selected Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Elisabeth Smith to serve as interim superintendent following Superintendent Daniel Teplesky's recent departure.
The decision was made at a Tuesday, Aug. 2, meeting of the Board of Education. Smith has been an RCS employee since 2003, when she became principal of Pieter B. Coeymans Elementary School. She was preciously employed in the Bethlehem Central School District.
“The Board of Education is very pleased to have Mrs. Smith in this role,” said Board of Education President John Vadney in a statement. “She has a strong educational background to propel the district ahead in a time of challenge and opportunity for our children.”
Teplesky's resignation became effective Aug. 1. He left the district to head the Monticello School District in Sullivan County. A search for a permanent replacement will be proceeding.
