Milton Town Supervisor Frank Thompson is the subject of a second investigation, this time involving town ethics disclosure, according to information from Saratoga County District Attorney James A. Murphy's office.
Murphy assigned Fulton County District Attorney Louise Sira a special prosecutor in the case because of a conflict of interest, according to information from Murphy's office.
Thompson is being investigated stemming from a complaint related to town ethics disclosure forms, said Murphy, who was tight-lipped with further details.
\I am not at liberty to comment on the specifics of the case in that it is a pending investigation, said Murphy.
Murphy appointed Sira as a special prosecutor on the case because he has a conflict of interest since Thompson chairs the Law and Finance Committee of the Board of Supervisors and has direct control over the District Attoreny's budget and personnel, according to information from Murphy's office.
Sira was also previously appointed as a special prosecutor in an unrelated case involving a grand larceny charge against Thompson's wife, Deborah Thompson, and an "Ongoing investigation into Frank Thompson." Deborah Thompson allegedly stole nearly $35,000 from an elderly woman she was appointed financial guardian of at Maplewood Manor, according to information from Murphy's office.
