COLONIE A woman was pronounced dead shortly after 6:23 a.m. Sunday from lacerations suffered at a Super 8 Motel on Central Avenue.
The Colonie Police Department arrived at the motel after receiving a call from a man reporting a female and he needed assistance after suffering lacerations. Colonie Police Lt. Robert Winn said the type of weapon used cannot be released.
According to the police report, the woman was pronounced dead on the scene while the male was transported by Colonie EMS to Albany Medical Center. Winn said the male was cooperative and speaking with investigators before he entered surgery on Sunday afternoon for non-life threatening injuries. He is now currently recovering but cannot be interviewed until the anesthesia has worn off. An autopsy for the female was scheduled for this afternoon as well.
Identities of both parties have not been released because the next of kin has yet to be notified but Winn said the two individuals involved would be classified as boyfriend and girlfriend. They are also believed to both be from the Capital District.
No arrests have been made and an investigation is still continuing with assistance from the Albany County District Attorney’s Office.
