Hockey: Saratoga edges CBA on the road

Naples' late goal gives Streaks league win

Tom Naples' goal with 3:35 left in the third period helped the Saratoga hockey team post a 3-2 Capital District High School Hockey League victory over Christian Brothers Academy Saturday at the Albany County Hockey Facility.

The Blue Streaks (3-0-0 league, 3-1-0 overall) had a 2-1 lead when CBA's Dean McMahon scored off a Sean Glennon assist midway through the third period. The score stayed tied until Naples converted a pass from Cam McCall for the game winning goal.

Nick Winters got Saratoga on the scoreboard midway through the second period off an Alex Luse assist, but Chris O'Keefe tied the score for CBA with 25 seconds left in the frame. Naples put Saratoga back in the lead 1:24 into the third period off a pass from Kyle Paton.

In non-league hockey action Saturday, Pelham (Section I) defeated Shaker/Colonie 6-4. The Jets (0-4-1) led 3-2 in the second period before Pelham scored three unanswered goals to take control.

Mike Mineau scored two goals for Shaker/Colonie, while goaltenders Kodi Riddell and Zach Dignum combined to make 19 saves. Tyler Smith had the other Jets' goal.
