Boys swimming: Shen handles Saratoga

Gordon, Conley lead Plainsmen to second win

The Shenendehowa boys swim team won for the second time in three days when it defeated Saratoga Springs 98-74 in Thursday's duel meet in Clifton Park.

Ryan Gordon and Mike Conley each won two individual events to lead the Plainsmen. Gordon took first place in the 50- and 100-yard freestyles, while Conley won the 200 and 500 freestyles.

Luke Gordon (200 individual medley), Adam Bonk (diving) and Taylor Nichols (100 butterfly) also won individual events for Shen. Greg Kelly (100 backstroke) and Ethan McAuliffe (100 breaststroke) earned victories for Saratoga.

In other boys swimming action, Bethlehem defeated Guilderville 102-73 and Niskayuna beat Ballston Spa 104-79.

Evan Ginsburg led Bethlehem with victories in the 200 individual medley and the 100 butterfly. Gunnar Zemering (50 freestyle), Cole Reagan (diving), Ryan Frederiks (100 freestyle) and Brian Negri (100 backstroke) also earned wins for the Eagles.

Christopher Zanotta won the 200 and 500 freestyles for Guilderville, and Matthew Pietrykowski added a victory in the 100 breaststroke.

In Ballston Spa, Niskayuna's Ryan Burke swept the 50 and 100 freestyles, while Evan Melby won the 200 and 500 freestyles. Emerson Wells (200 individual medley), Josh Dodway (diving) and James Chalermkraivuth (100 breaststroke) also earned victories for the Silver Warriors.

Dave Gardiner (100 butterfly) and Nick Pascucci (100 backstroke) won individual events for Ballston Spa.
