LaSalle scored the first goal, but Shaker/Colonie scored the next nine on its way to a 9-2 Capital District High School Hockey league victory Friday at the Albany County Hockey Facility in Colonie.
Sean Leach led the way with three goals and an assist for Shaker/Colonie (1-1-0 league, 1-4-1 overall) in its first win of the season. Eric Egan contributed a goal and three assists, and Mike Mineau added a goal and an assist.
Goaltender Zach Dignum had 14 saves to pick up his first career varsity win for the Jets.
In non-league hockey action Friday, Rye pulled away for a 4-1 victory over Bethlehem in Delmar, and Potsdam downed Christian Brothers Academy 8-2 in the opening round of the Canton Tournament in northern New York.
Michael Bennincasa scored a first-period power play goal to get Rye on the board first. Joseph Chin tallied on a second period power play to double the Section I power's lead to 2-0. Bethlehem got one goal back on Chris Caswell's marker midway through the third period, but Rye scored twice late to seal the victory.
Bethlehem goaltender Kevin Cooley made 31 saves, while Rye netminder Aidan Talgo stopped 30 shots.
It was the first loss of the season for Bethlehem (4-1-0).
CBA (1-3-1) had more shots on goal (32) than Potsdam (31), but the Sandstoners made the most of their shots -- especially in the last two periods, when they struck for seven of their eight goals.
Dean McMahon scored two unassisted goals for the Brothers.
