continued Bridget Carney did her best to turn the momentum in Averill Park's favor. The senior forward charged at the basket several times, and though she didn't hit any of her field goals, she did force Shaker to foul her. Carney made nine of her 10 free throws following those fouls, which turned a possible blowout into a two possession game.
"We were in foul trouble and they knew it, so they kept coming at us," said Caschera-Bowles.
The Rowland sisters made certain that Averill Park wouldn't finish its rally, though. Mackenzie and Madison Rowland each hit clutch shots over the final two minutes, and Mackenzie added a key free throw with less than 20 seconds left to help Shaker pull out the victory.
Carney led Averill Park with 14 points, and Brooke O'Shea added 10 points.
