Hockey: BH/BS beats G/M for N/S Tournament title

Clark's 30 saves leads Burnt Hills/Ballston Spa

Goaltender Austin Clark's 30 saves helped the Burnt Hills/Ballston Spa hockey team defeat Guilderland/Mohonasen 4-2 in Wednesday's championship game of the Niskayuna/Schenectady Tournament at the Schenectady County Recreation Facility in Glenville.

Trey Swingruber scored the go-ahead goal 3:33 into the third period for BH/BS, and Chase Godfrey added an empty-net goal with 10 seconds left to seal the victory.

Godfrey and Matt Veneras each had a goal and an assist for BH/BS. Nick Van Liew contributed a pair of assists, and Connor Lind added a second-period goal.

Ryan Ghizzoni tallied both of G/M's goals, and goaltender Nigel Simmons made 17 saves.

G/M stunned North Rockland 3-2 in Tuesday's opening round, as the Dutch Warriors scored all of their goals in the final six minutes of the third period to pull off the comeback win.

Ghizzoni, Andrew Mundweiler and Aaron Hull scored G/M's goals. Hull's game-winning goal came with eight seconds left in regulation.

Simmons stopped 13 shots for the Dutch Warriors, while North Rockland goaltender Anthony DePinto had 24 saves.
