Setter's teammates didn't let her down. Weber scored six straight points, and Mary Kate Cusack added a long jump shot during an 8-0 Shen run late in the third quarter to help the Plainswomen build a 48-32 advantage.
"It just seemed that whoever we put in did something good for us at the offensive or defensive end," said Strube.
Shaker cut Shen's lead to seven points midway through the fourth quarter and had several opportunities to make it a two-possession game, but the Blue Bison's shots kept rimming out.
"You know what? It happens. When you're a shooter, sometimes the shots rim out," said Caschera. "But there were a lot of other things that Shen did to beat us."
Setter and Weber each scored 16 points to lead Shen. Cusack contributed nine points off the bench, and Mandi Edick added seven points.
"MK [Cusack] came in off the bench and did an awesome job, and Edick hit a couple of critical three-pointers for us," said Strube.
Madison Rowland netted 17 points for Shaker, including a personal 8-0 run in the second quarter to help the Blue Bison trim Shen's lead to 23-22. Lauren Woods added 14 points.
Both Shaker and Shen have little time to dwell on Thursday's game. They both return to action Friday with Shaker hosting Ballston Spa and Shen traveling to Niskayuna.""
