Voters to have say on Elmwood Park land buy

The department has three acres of property now. The station was opened in 1988. Elmwood Park was impacted by an error in taxing this year that saw some residents receiving inflated bills. The land buy has no bearing on this year's tax rate, Fuino said.

Voters will have to approve the borrowing of the money for the land purchase to move ahead. The land also includes a small structure the department said it doesn't have plans for.

The vote will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 8, at the company's firehouse, 589 Russell Road. All registered voters residing in the fire district will be eligible to cast a vote.
