There will be no New York Giants training camp at the University at Albany this summer.
The NFL franchise announced Thursday that due to \logistical and timing restrictions resulting from the league's ongoing labor negotiations, it will hold its preseason training camp at its Meadowlands facility.
Giants President and Chief Executive Owner John Mara informed both the school and Albany Mayor Gerald Jennings of the decision, and he went on to say that the team has "every intention of returning" to UAlbany for training camp in 2012.
"John called me this morning to let me know of the team's plans, and I certainly understand and respect the decision," said Jennings in a statement released by the UAlbany Sports Information Office. "We have had a great relationship with the Giants organization for 15 years, and my office and our city look forward to this season and to welcoming the Giants back next summer."
The Giants have held their preseason training camp at UAlbany every year since 1996, making it the team's longest-serving summer home.""
