continued In Esposito’s letter, she blames politics for her resignation, which she claims to have also caused her health problems that took her out of Town Hall.
Esposito wrote in the letter: “Due to these unproven accusations, I do not feel as though I can continue to perform my duties as effectively as I have in the forty plus years that I have served the people and the Town of Rotterdam. The culmination of everthing that has happened in the recent past has literally affected my health to the point that my Doctor's collectively have determined and highly recommend that I tender my resignation before I do further irreparable physical damage to myself.”
Earlier in the letter she said she was going to retire after her previous term ended, but due to residents pleading for her to run again she decided to give it a go one more time.
She wrote: “Politics never entered into any decision I had to make, to me it was very simple. What is the right or wrong thing to do for everyone involved in the issues? Unfortunately I have since learned that those were not what really mattered in our decision making process, all that really mattered was what was right regarding the politics and promises that were already made, and I learned that virtually everyone involved always had a personal agenda.”
