Saratoga California Transit Authority, a band that was a spinoff by one of Chicago’s founding members, will headline Clifton Park’s Fourth of July celebration, held at Clifton Common and the special musical performance sponsored by County Waste & Recycling.
“We’re delighted to partner with County Waste & Recycling to bring this star-studded band to Clifton Park,” Barrett said. “Many of us grew up listening to the music of Chicago. This July Fourth celebration promises to be an unforgettable Sunday in the park.”
The band will perform a 90-minute show, starting at 8 p.m. Drummer Danny Seraphine was a founding member of Chicago, an experimental rock band formed in 1967 that was known for combining jazz instruments and Latin sounds. Seraphine has played on and helped produce 18 gold and 13 platinum albums, 50 Top 40 hits, 20 Top 10 singles and five number ones.
California Transit Authority will perform some of Chicago’s greatest hits, like “25 or 6 to 4,” “Make me Smile” and “Saturday in the Park,” as well as some original music from its CD “Full Circle.”
“We have some serious grooves in our bones, so if you liked the jazz-rock themes of the old CTA, you will be blown away by what we are doing now with outstanding musicians and great music,” Seraphine said. “We’re looking forward to the Fourth of July celebration in Clifton Park. We hope everybody is ready to rock, because we’re going to bring our A-game and give the people of Clifton Park an evening of music they will long remember.”
Local band Sirsy will get the festivities started on July 4 at 5:45 p.m. After California Transit Authority wraps, there will be the town’s annual fireworks display. Seraphine and other members of the band will be available after the fireworks display to meet fans and sign autographs. The band’s CD and other merchandise will be available for purchase.
“Events like the July Fourth celebration are part of what makes Clifton Park a great place to live, work and raise a family,” said Scott Earl, County Waste & Recycling president.
“We’re proud to call Clifton Park home and be a partner in what will be a fun evening filled with great food, music and fireworks.”
