An $89 million 2011-12 school year budget was passed by voters in the Guilderland Central School District with a vote of 2,058 to 1,651.
The budget carries a 3.4 percent increase to the tax levy and is 1.7 percent more than what the district is spending this year. About 40 full-time staff positions were cut.
Voters also approved the purchase of new school buses by a vote of 1,950 to 1,712.
Four candidates won terms on the nine-member Board of Education. Winning three-year terms were Rose Levy (with 2,530 votes), Judy Slack (with 2,460 votes) and Allan Simpson (with 2,324 votes). Emilio Genzano was elected to a one-year term, with 2,296 votes."
