Guilty plea from teen with shotgun in Crossgates

A teen accused of bringing a loaded shotgun into Crossgates Mall has plead guilty to felony charges.

The Albany County District Attorney's office announced on Thursday, May 19, that Marcelle Chandler, 16, of Albany, pleaded guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.

He will receive four years in state prison followed by three years of post-release supervision under the plea agreement. He will consecutively serve a one- to three-year sentence for criminal possession of stolen property.

Chandler was seen stealing two polo shirts from Macy's on April 15 and when detained by security officers it was discovered he had a loaded sawed-off shotgun in his backpack. He also had a box cutter in his pants pocket.

Chandler will be sentenced in July and remains at the Albany County jail."
