Volleyball wrap: Shen, Bethlehem with wins

Plainsmen pull out victory over BH-BL

The Shenendehowa boys volleyball team earned a 3-0 sweep against Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake in Wednesday's Suburban Council match in Clifton Park.

The Spartans pushed the Plainsmen (10-1) in all three games, but Shen prevailed by scores of 25-19, 26-24 and 25-16.

Nick Clark had 12 kills, Logan Barbour contributed 10 kills and two blocks, and Brian Sprague added 30 assists for Shen. Alex Brovich and Joey Feeley each had six digs.

Brad Hjelmar paced BH-BL (6-5) with five kills and three blocks. Forrest Burnetter chipped in with five kills and two blocks, and Carter Rana added 15 digs.

In other Suburban Council boys volleyball action, Bethlehem improved its record to 11-0 with a 3-0 victory over Niskayuna in Delmar.

Mike Carrk and Jake Abbuhl combined for 11 kills to lead the Eagles, who won by scores of 25-14, 25-19 and 25-13.

Niskayuna's record dropped to 4-7.

In girls volleyball Tuesday, Schalmont eased past Lansingburgh 3-0 in a Colonial Council match in Rotterdam.

Christina McBride had nine kills and two blocks, and Lindsey Burns contributed 19 assists for the Sabres (9-1), who won by scores of 25-22, 25-12 and 25-12. Rachel Pineda added 15 service points, four digs and three kills.

Imaris Baird led Lansingburgh (3-9) with five kills, while Anna Nielsen chipped in with seven service points and three assists.
