Spartans extend winning streak to eight games

After Saratoga (3-10-1) took a 1-0 halftime lead, Shaker (7-5-2) tied the game at 1 early in the second half off a throw in. The Blue Streaks regained the lead midway through the second half on Morgan Smith's goal before the Blue Bison struck twice in the final 15 minutes to pull out the victory.

In other boys soccer action, Mekeel Christian Academy scored four times in the second half to defeat Duanesburg 5-0 in Tuesday's Western Athletic Conference South Division game at Maalwyck Park.

Tai Aderounmu scored the first three goals for the Lions (11-3-0). Anders Trestick contributed a goal and an assist, and TK Majekdounmi added the other goal.

Girls swimming

The Shenendehowa girls swim team improved its duel meet record to 7-1 with Tuesday's 95-83 victory over Ballston Spa in Clifton Park.

Julia and Olivia Samson each won two individual events to lead the Plainswomen. Julia won the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly, while Olivia took first place in the 50- and 100-yard freestyles. Katherine Orr added a victory in the 200-yard individual medley.

Karly Haraden (500-yard freestyle), Kristina Keefe (100-yard backstroke) and Caitlyn Gardiner (100-yard breaststroke) all swam to victories for the Scotties (5-4). Addison Walkowiak added a first-place finish in the diving competition.

In other duel meet action, Guilderville pulled away for a 98-79 victory over Mohonasen/Schalmont in Voorheesville.

Mackenzie Cietek had victories in the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard freestyle for Guilderville. Jackie Cunningham won the 200-yard freestyle, Jenna Bickel took first place in the 50-yard freestyle and Kendall Cietek added a victory in the 100-yard butterfly.

Elyse Piseczny (diving), Natalie Ericson (100-yard backstroke) and Rachel Moslander (100-yard breaststroke) had first-place finishes for Mohonasen/Schalmont.

The Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk girls swim team pulled itself within a duel meet of .500 by beating Albany 101.5-78.5 Tuesday in Albany.
