Niskayuna, Shen earn swimming victories

Nisky duo pile up individual wins against Ballston Spa

— Niskayuna and Shenendehowa each earned duel meet wins Tuesday afternoon.

Niskayuna got two individual wins apiece from Kina Zhou and Emma Terwilliger in a 92-83 victory over Ballston Spa, while Shen eased past Guilderville 101.5-81.5.

Zhou, last year's Section II Class A most outstanding swimmer award winner, picked up where she left off by winning the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly. Terwilliger picked up victories in the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard freestyle.

Maggie Jordan (200-yard freestyle) and Leanne Archer (500-yard freestyle) also picked up individual victories for the Silver Warriors, the defending Section II champions.

Addison Walkowiak finished first in the diving competition for Ballston Spa. Karly Haraden won the 100-yard backstroke, and Caitlyn Gardiner finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke.

In Voorheesville, six Shen athletes won individual races to lead the Plainswomen past Guilderville: Katherine Orr (200-yard individual medley), Olivia Samson (50-yard freestyle), Sydney Weiskopf (diving), Julia Samson (100-yard freestyle), Lindsay Caplan (500-yard freestyle) and Susie Schwarz (100-yard breaststroke).

Jenna Bickel paced Guilderville with victories in the 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard backstroke. Helen Merkley added a win in the 200-yard freestyle.

In other swimming action Tuesday, Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake cruised past Shaker 102-75 in Burnt Hills. Kelly Pruskowski (50- and 100-yard freestyle) and Sara Swett (200- and 500-yard freestyle) each won two events for the Spartans, with Meghan Pettit (200-yard individual medley), Lauren Katz (diving) and Lauren Zentko (100-yard butterfly) adding individual victories.

Kristen Moras (100-yard backstroke) and Canon Crummey (100-yard breaststroke) had individual wins for Shaker.
