CAPITAL DISTRICT — Shaker and Bethlehem notched Suburban Council girls volleyball victories Tuesday.
Shaker needed four games to defeat Saratoga 3-1, while Bethlehem swept Colonie 3-0 for its first victory of the season.
Shaker (2-2) won the first game 25-20 before Saratoga responded in the second game with a 25-23 win. The Blue Bison then won the next two games by scores of 25-13 and 25-21.
Bethlehem (1-3) breezed through the first two games against Colonie (1-2) by scores of 25-12 and 25-18, but needed an extra point to edge the Garnet Raiders 26-24 in the third game.
Kaity Ward had 10 kills, and Jamie Cerone added 13 assists for Bethlehem. Emily Finlan had a kill and two blocks for Colonie.
