NISKAYUNA For once, the Niskayuna girls soccer team didn't have to score a goal in the final 10 minutes to pull out a win. The Silver Warriors simply had to hold on to a one-goal lead for nearly 35 minutes to do it.
Niskayuna scored two goals early in the first half and held on for a 2-1 victory over Columbia in Tuesday's Suburban Council game.
Anka Parzych and Maddie Karafanda tallied within the first 11 minutes of the game to give the Silver Warriors (6-0) the lead. Meghan Doyle assisted on both goals.
Columbia got one back in the fifth minute of the second half when McKenzie Mulligan scored, but Niskayuna maintained its one-goal lead with strong pressure on Columbia's defense.
