Boys soccer: Shaker handles Columbia in the rain

Casserly notches two points for Bison

— The Shaker boys soccer team dodged lightning and rain to defeat Columbia 2-0 in Thursday's Suburban Council game.

A thunderstorm delayed the game early in the second half with Shaker leading 1-0. When play resumed, Ryan Casserly led a fast break and passed the ball to Connor Cahalan, who put home his shot to double the Blue Bison's lead to two goals.

The rain started pouring down a short time later, but that didn't bother Shaker. The Blue Bison had several scoring chances including a 15-second sequence in which they hit the goal post three times with their shots. Columbia also had a shot glance off the post during the rainstorm.

Casserly scored off a feed from Jackson DuMont early in the first half to give Shaker the lead.
