This year’s Dash looks to the past

Delmar race organizers seek vintage gear for 24th annual running

— Nancy Fopeano of Bryant Asset Protection said the drive is the perfect reason for residents to clean out their closets. For children who donate sneakers, the $2 registration fee for the children’s race will be waived.

Adams said the race not only promotes a healthy lifestyle but also brings together the Bethlehem community.

“It’s tradition,” she said. “Bethlehem has a large population of runners and since (the race) began I think there has been a consistency in the quality of the race. Because of that, since someone runs it they come back. We have a high percentage of repeats and we pride ourselves that those people want to come back and participate in our tradition.”

The 24th Annual Delmar Dash is a 5-mile race presented by the Hudson Mohawk Road Runners Club. It will be held on Sunday, April 15, starting at the Bethlehem Middle School at 9 a.m. Registration is $20 for HMRRC members and $25 for non-HMRRC members. The deadline for online registration is Friday, April 13, with the in-person last chance on Saturday, April 14, at Fleet Feet on Wolf Road in Colonie.
