Franklin Miller and Ed Canty combined on a one-hitter as Ballston Spa blanked Bethlehem 2-0 in Wednesday's Suburban Council baseball game in Ballston Spa.
Miller pitched six innings of one-hit ball and struck out 11, and Canty tossed a perfect inning of relief for the Scotties. Luke Bush drove in the first Ballston Spa run in the bottom of the second inning.
Mike Carrk pitched the complete game for Bethlehem, scattering seven hits.
In other Suburban Council baseball action Wednesday, Saratoga Springs pulled away for an 8-1 victory over Averill Park at East Side Recreation Field.
The Blue Streaks scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and added three more in the sixth to seal their victory.
Alex Chandler, Dan Rittenhouse and Devin Coffey each had two hits for Saratoga. Matt Flynn and Zach Forbes drove in two runs apiece.
Greg Hotaling doubled and singled for Averill Park.
Guilderland scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning and held on for an 8-6 Suburban Council softball victory at Niskayuna Wednesday.
Gabby Marino's solo home run was one of six extra-base hits for the Lady Dutch. Kiley DeCastro doubled twice, while Abi Peck, Jenna Cubello and Jessi Peck each added a double and a single.
Gina Grant went 3-for-3 at the plate for Niskayuna, and Hannah Conklin contributed a pair of singles.
Columbia swept Wednesday's Suburban Council girls track and field meet against Ballston Spa and Niskayuna. Columbia defeated Ballston Spa 103-74 and beat Niskayuna 116-57. Ballston Spa defeated Niskayuna 110-64 to pick up the split.
Carleigh Rosenberg (1,500-meter race), Anna Bertrand (high jump), Olivia Matthews (pole vault), Kailey Rothacker (shot put) and Lexi Klein (discus) won individual events for Ballston Spa. Felicia Sciortino (3,000) was the lone winner for Niskayuna.
