The Columbia baseball team handed Shaker its second consecutive Suburban Council loss with Tuesday's 5-1 victory in Latham.
The Blue Bison (5-2 league, 7-2 overall) scored their lone run in the bottom of the first inning. The Blue Devils (6-1, 6-2) tied the game with one run in the fourth inning and took command with a three-run sixth inning.
Kyle Henchey had a triple and two singles for Columbia in support of pitcher Connor Ramon, who tossed a complete-game one-hitter. Ramon didn't strike anyone out, but he received strong support from his defense.
Eric Egan drove in Shaker's lone run.
In other Suburban Council baseball action Tuesday, Guilderland moved above the .500 mark by beating Ballston Spa 4-2.
After falling behind 2-0, the Dutchmen (4-3, 4-4) scored twice in the top of the second inning and added single runs in the fourth and seventh innings to pull out the victory.
Tim O'Connor homered and singled, and pitcher Zach Kronick allowed three hits and struck out eight batters for Guilderland.
Ballston Spa's record dipped to 3-4 in the league and 4-6 overall.
Guilderland scored five runs in the top of the eighth inning to defeat Ballston Spa 11-6 in Tuesday's Suburban Council softball game.
The Lady Dutch (5-2, 7-3) had a 6-0 lead before the Scotties (2-6 league) tied the game with a six-run third inning -- a rally highlighted by Morgan Thorne's two-run double.
Abi Peck belted a grand slam, and Taylor TenEyck contributed three hits, two RBI and two runs scored for Guilderland. Morgan TenEyck doubled twice and had an RBI and a run scored.
Thorne and Taylor McMahon each had two hits for Ballston Spa.
In other Suburban Council action, Kelly Lane pitched a two-hitter to lead Colonie past Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake 7-1.
Lane struck out 10 batters and helped her own cause by going 4-for-4 at the plate with two RBI. Sam Blum and Kassidy Ogren also had two hits for the Lady Raiders (6-1 league).
