Girls lacrosse: Lennon leads Shaker past Niskayuna

Bison take over sole possession of second place

— Treanor had a shot at a hat trick a short time later, but Shaker goaltender Anne Morrison made a key save to keep the score at 6-5.

"In the moment it doesn't hurt, but it will probably hurt later," said Morrison, who turned away nine shots. "We came out with a lot of intensity, and when we are aggressive it gets me pumped up."

"She came up big for us," Hill said. "When our morale started to dip after their (Niskayuna's) run, she made a huge save. Then, our offense rallied realizing it wasn't over yet."

Smith scored with 15:23 left in the second half to tie the game at 5, and Lennon's fourth goal of the day put the Blue Bison ahead for good. Smith tallied again off an assist from Maddie Devine to seal the victory.

"This was a game of runs," Treanor said. "They (Shaker) had one, we had one, and then we didn't capitalize on some opportunities and they did at their end. They are a great team."

Asa Goldstock had seven saves in goal for Niskayuna.
