Plane crash in Clifton Park claims at least one life

A preliminary investigation determined that plane took off from Albany Airport earlier in the morning and may have experienced engine trouble.The plane hit the ground near Van Vranken Road and came to rest against a pine tree.

According to police reports, the plane was occupied by two people at the time of the crash and officials confirmed that one occupant was deceased. The other occupant was said to be in critical condition as of 10 a.m., Aug. 15. There were no reports of injuries to anyone on the ground in the area at the time of the crash.

An investigation into the crash is being conducted.
