He said areas with constant bright sunlight like Arizona actually do more harm to the solar panels themselves. But in Upstate New York, the panels are able to work efficiently in snow, rain and sunlight without overheating.
All of this experience in solar panel installation, which is handled by the Capitaland Solar Solutions division, comes with the confidence of knowing that the company has a walk-in showroom and will be there to answer questions every step of the way.
Davis noted that despite the difficult economy, last year was the company’s best ever. He said the confidence customers have shown in Capitaland is a real feather in the cap for the company.
“For us to be up 50 percent in sales means we’re doing it right,” Davis said.
In addition to its business activities, Capitaland strives to be involved in the community. The company sponsors a race car at the Albany-Saratoga Speedway and also supports the Valley Cats baseball team. Davis and his wife are also big supporters of the ASPCA, frequently sponsoring the organization’s pet shows.
Coming up for Capitaland is the Great Northeast Home Show at the Times Union Center Feb. 10, 11 and 12, at which the company will have two informational booths and a wealth of knowledge to share about solar panels and other building products. In early March, the company will be hosting its own “solar awareness” open house at its showroom in Clifton Park.
