Hockey: Jets hand Plainsmen first league loss

Egan brothers lead Shaker/Colonie to home win

Kevin Egan scored twice, and older brother Eric Egan added the eventual game winner to lead Shaker/Colonie past Shenendehowa 6-4 in Saturday's Capital District High School Hockey League game at the Albany County Hockey Facility in Colonie.

Sean Leach gave the Jets (7-3-0 league, 7-8-2 overall) a 3-2 lead with 6:56 left in the second period, and Kevin Egan tallied 3:32 later to put the home team up by two goals. The Plainsmen (8-1-0, 9-7-0) cut the deficit to one goal twice in the third period, but they couldn't get the equalizer.

Joey Chiara added a pair of goals including one into an empty net with nine seconds left, and goaltender Kodi Riddell made 34 saves for Shaker/Colonie. Riddell stopped 16 Shen shots in the second period alone, as the Jets took the lead for good.

Kevin Miles tallied twice, while Adam Beairsto and Brad Tardif added the other goals for Shen, which suffered its first CDHSHL loss of the season.
