Amsterdam The Albany Metro Mallers raised their Empire Football League record to 2-0 with Saturday's 27-6 victory at Amsterdam.
David Lumpkin scored Albany's first touchdown on a 65-yard punt return, and quarterback CJ Tarver threw for 207 yards and three touchdowns to help the Metro Mallers beat the Zephyrs.
Besides his punt return, Lumpkin turned in a strong defensive performance in his first game against his former team in Amsterdam. Lumpkin had four tackles, recovered a fumble and intercepted a pass.
Tarver's three touchdowns went to different receivers. Gloversville High School graduate Ace Barnhill caught one of Tarver's scoring strikes and finished the night with five receptions for 86 yards. Sean Singleton had a 41-yard touchdown catch, and Issmal Green added a 5-yard touchdown reception.
The Metro Mallers are off next weekend. They return to Christian Brothers Academy July 28 to play Lackawanna in a non-league game.
