The Rustic Gourmet serves what Kohl calls “standard American fare” including customer favorites like hearty sandwiches, served in several sizes to suit different appetites. Their Reubens, crab cakes and shrimp salad are particularly popular. Every day they feature three entrees, usually a pasta, a fish and a meat or chicken. Recent examples include veggie lasagna, haddock over grilled veggies and Beef Wellington. They have five different salads that they rotate, including Salade Nicoise.
In September, they will likely have their beer and wine license. They plan on serving bratwursts and sauerkraut with the beer and a cheese plate with the wine.
Kohl added that she’s enjoying getting to know the neighborhood and residents of Delmar and that she buys from as many local sources as possible. Also, over this past year The Rustic Gourmet has donated to 25 local non-for-profit organizations.
“Let us be your home away from home. Whether you’re coming in for a cup of coffee or a full dinner, we want you,” said Kohl.
