Fallen hiker rescued from Plotterkill Preserve

— The Rotterdam Police Department on Wednesday, June 20, at approximately 5:39 p.m., responded to the Plotterkill Preserve, where a male hiker reportedly fell down the embankment of a nature trail.

The South Schenectady Fire Department, Rotterdam District 2 Fire Department, Rotterdam Junction Fire Department, Pattersonville Fire Department, Pine Grove Fire Department, Plotterkill Fire Department, Schonowee Fire Department and Mariaville Fire Department assisted in locating the man and then safely removing him from the preserve.

Police identified the hiker as Bryan Aho, 22. Aho sustained minor injuries and was transported to Ellis Hospital by Rotterdam EMS, according to police.

Rotterdam police urges any hiker entering the Plotterkill Preserve to use extreme caution, because many trails pass through difficult terrain.
