Part of Voorheesville’s problems involved holding on to the ball. Hoosic Valley forced the Blackbirds into 23 turnovers with its full-court press and aggressive half-court defense.
Foul shooting was another issue. While Hoosic Valley made 10 of its 12 shots from the charity stripe, Voorheesville made slightly more than half of its free throws (6-for-11).
“Those are the little things that can hurt you, but at the end of the day you have to be able to make your shots,” said Baron.
Anderson contributed eight points, and Whitney Kugler added seven points for Hoosic Valley, which reached last year’s state semifinals in Class B. Madden paced Voorheesville -- last year’s state Class C final four participant -- with seven points.
