Which girls lacrosse team will win the Section II Class A title this spring?

  • Niskayuna (defending champion) 10%
  • Guilderland (2011 runner-up) 48%
  • Shaker 10%
  • Saratoga 0%
  • Bethlehem 33%

21 total votes.

We had a surprise in last week's poll, as Colonie was named the fan's choice to win the Section II Class A boys lacrosse title this year. This week, we ask which girls lacrosse team will win the Class A Sectional title this spring. Here are your five choices:

Niskayuna -- Last year, the Silver Warriors made the jump to Class A and ended Guilderland's four-year reign as the Sectional champion. Senior midfielder Kayla Treanor -- who spent last summer playing on the United States 19-and-under national team at the junior world championships -- leads Niskayuna in its bid for another Class A crown.

Guilderland -- The Lady Dutch graduated several key players from last year's team, but coach Gary Chatnik always has plenty of talent to work with. Shelby Iapoce is back to lead Guilderland's offense.

Shaker -- if Niskayuna and Guilderland are the top two teams, Shaker is close behind in third place. The Blue Bison have several veterans back on their offensive unit led by junior Maddie Devine and seniors Lauren Smith and Anne Rehfuss.

Saratoga -- One of the earliest Sectional empires, the Blue Streaks are looking to re-establish themselves as a local power. Briana Sirianni and Isabella Wager are two of the returning players Saratoga will be counting on this season.

Bethlehem -- The Lady Eagles had a rare off year in 2011, but they return nearly all of their lineup. Moriah Greenstein is back to lead Bethlehem's offense, while goaltender Elaine Kehoe anchors the defense.

Now that you have a few facts, it's time to make your pick. Voting will be open until midnight Monday, so get your selections in today. And don't forget to share this poll with your friends. The more votes, the better.
