Baseball: Saratoga slugs its way past South Glens Falls

Blue Streaks break game open with five-run fourth inning

The Saratoga Springs baseball team opened its 2012 season Friday with a 13-3 non-league victory over South Glens Falls at East Side Recreation Field.

The Blue Streaks (1-0) scored five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 6-3 lead, and they added seven runs over the next two innings to seal the victory.

Dan Rittenhouse led Saratoga's 14-hit attack with a triple, a double and a single. Rittenhouse also drove in four runs and scored three times.

Zach Forbes had three hits and two runs batted in, and Devin Coffey added three hits and three runs scored for the Blue Streaks.

Saratoga begins Suburban Council play Monday against defending state Class A champion Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake.
