First Event of SPAC Season Highlighted by Live Music and Post-Race Party for the Community.
Saratoga Performing Arts Center’s Rock & Run 5K, the first event of the 2012 Season will take place on Sunday, May 20 at 10:30 a.m. The family friendly event features a certified 5K course through the Spa State Park with bands performing live music along the route, a 1K Kids’ Run and a free post-race party that is open to the community.
Proceeds from the event help underwrite SPAC’s Vivienne Anderson Program, an initiative which provides underserved children with the opportunity to attend classical performances.
5K certified course through the Spa State Park with live music by top bands including Headband Jack, Black Mountain Symphony, Jenson Rhodes Band, The City Never Sleeps, Garland Nelson, Lost Cantina, Tamer Lane, Dirt Cheap, Kemp Avenue Band, Betsy and the Bygones, John Donvito and Tracy Corey.

WEQX’s acclaimed morning on-air personality, Jeff Morad, serving as emcee
Post-race party featuring nationally recognized, New York City-based alternative rock band My Pet Dragon. The band headlined the recent 2012 Breckenridge Beer Festival in Colorado and are a featured band on the Occupy Movement-inspired, Occupy This Album, along with Jackson Brown, Debbie Harry, Tom Morrello and other noted musicians.
Popular food vendors including the Old Daley Inn’s “Baja Truck” serving fresh, healthy breakfast and lunch specialties. Also onsite will be Ben & Jerry’s, J&J concessions and Vitamin Water which will be distributing free product.
Kids activities including face painting, bouncy house, chalk contest, strolling magician and clown, crafts, kids yoga and Zumba demonstrations.
Fitness demonstrations by Saratoga Bootcamp, US Marine Corps, Saratoga YMCA, Zumba with Lisa Ruud.
