Sabres enter Class B playoffs as No. 2 seed

— The Sabres now turn their attention to the Class B playoffs. Schalmont meets the winner of the Fonda-Taconic Hills game Thursday at a site to be determined.

“We had the type of season we had because of our pitching and defense,” said Anderson.

Niskayuna, Scotia-Glenville and Mekeel Christian Academy are also involved in this year’s Section II playoffs.

Niskayuna (8-8, 12-8) received the No. 9 seed in Class AA after securing a .500 record in the Suburban Council with last Friday’s 3-0 victory over Saratoga Springs. The Silver Warriors met No. 8 Schenectady (9-7, 10-8) in Wednesday’s opening round game. The winner advances to Thursday’s scheduled quarterfinal game against top-seeded Christian Brothers Academy (15-1, 17-3).

Scotia-Glenville (8-6, 10-8) earned the No. 7 seed in the Class A playoffs. The Tartans travel to No. 2 Lansingburgh (12-2, 16-3) for Thursday’s quarterfinal round.

Mekeel Christian Academy (7-5, 10-8) received the No. 5 seed in Class D and a road trip to No. 4 Germantown (7-4, 10-6) for Thursday’s quarterfinal round.
