BETHLEHEM State Police are looking into an accident on the Thruway that put a Staten Island man in the hospital.
Police said at about 7 a.m. this morning a 1961 Chevrolet driven by Michael Ferneczi, 43, drifted onto the shoulder of I-87 in the Town of Bethlehem and hit an empty car carrier. Police said the carrier truck was stopped and unoccupied at the time of the collision while the driver, Junior Urena, 30, of Paterson, N.J., was checking a loose chain on the trailer.
Ferneczi was taken to Albany Medical Center, where he is listed in critical condition.
