War of 1812 Muster
View a reenactment of the War of 1812 enfold as cannons boom and rifles flare on both water and land.
ROTTERDAM JUNCTION The Mabee Farm Historic Site in Rotterdam Junction on Saturday, Sept. 22, and the following day hosted a muster recognizing the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812. The farm was transformed into an encampment with reenactors holding rifles and cannons awaiting action.
On Sunday afternoon, a group of reenactors walked down to the docks and boarded boats that had smaller cannons at the bow. After two boats sailed a short way down the Mohawk River, a cannon battle ensued with troops on land.
Once the land-to-water skirmish was completed, troops moved to an adjacent field to battle. A few soldiers took cover behind trees as a barrage of rifle and cannon fire continued. Soon the soldiers were consumed by a thick cloud of smoke as shots continued until victory was declared.
