Alex Cadet's overtime goal gave the Saratoga Springs boys soccer team a 3-2 Suburban Council victory over Shaker Tuesday.
Ethan Daly tallied off a rebound in the 73rd minute to tie the score at 2-2 for the Blue Streaks (1-12-1). A Shaker foul midway through the first overtime period gave Cadet a free kick from the top of the penalty box, which he put home for the game winner.
Terrence Maydick scored in the first half for Saratoga. Omer Omer and Tom Macutek tallied for Shaker (5-8-1).
In other Suburban Council boys soccer action Tuesday, Shenendehowa edged Ballston Spa 3-2 on Greg Volk's goal in the second half.
Mark Rakowsky and Phil Barrett also scored goals for the Plainsmen (10-2-2). Connor DeFillippis and Nolan Kelly tallied for Ballston Spa (4-8-2).
Bethlehem (9-4-1) turned in a strong performance in Tuesday's 5-0 Suburban Council girls soccer win over Colonie.
Tara Teal scored twice, and Kaylee Rickert contributed a goal and an assist for the Lady Eagles. Liz Cultrara and Sara Biszick also tallied, and goaltender Katie Nickles made six saves for the shutout.
Colonie netminder Courtney Yule stopped six shots.
The Bethlehem girls cross country team defeated Shenendehowa and Niskayuna in Tuesday's Suburban Council duel meet in Niskayuna.
The Lady Eagles defeated Shen 21-34 and Niskayuna 20-41. Danika Jensen led Bethlehem with a time of 15:58.90.
Shen defeated Niskayuna 23-38, with Caroline Hampton leading the Plainswomen with a time of 16:01.61. Niskayuna's Felicia Sciortino had the fastest time of the day with a 15:48.43.
On the boys' side, Bethlehem swept Shen and Niskayuna. The Eagles defeated Shen 26-29 and beat Niskayuna 16-44. Shen ran past the Silver Warriors 17-42 to earn a split.
Shen's Dan Janeczko was the top runner with a time of 13:25.43, while Bethlehem's Stephen Booker finished second with a time of 13:34.94. Dominick Brion led Niskayuna with a time of 14:12.01.
