On a spectacular Sept. 15, Saturday morning over 400 runners gathered to enjoy the 5K Capital Region Special Surgery Race for Hope through the neighborhoods of Slingerlands.
It was a great event and a great morning. It was the third year that I had the good fortune to participate and I was thankful. Many thanks to those who volunteered countless hours to coordinate such a successful event, particularly the race organizers Drs. Ed and Sara Scheid, Marketing Coordinator Sara Nicole Mahoney and the entire Capital Region Special Surgery group.
Special accolades to the corporate sponsors, the U Albany scholar athletes who cheered on the participants, Hannaford for all the healthy food after the race, the Bethlehem Police Department for their directing traffic and all the volunteers . And kudos to the runners and walkers who participate for a great cause, the Community Foundation, so that many afflicted with brain, neck and spinal disorders will benefit from the race proceeds. Looking forward to next year!
